Individual Child Counseling and Play Therapy

I offer individual therapy to children aged 0-12 years old. I support children dealing with anxiety, social and academic concerns at school, perfectionism, high sensitivity, overwhelming stress, and other developmental concerns. I love to work with children who might be considered highly sensitive, who have been adopted, who are dual language learners, who are homeschooled or otherwise in nontraditional education, or who are in gifted and talented programs.

Parent-Child Family Counseling and Play Therapy

I offer parent-child therapy to families who are looking to strengthen their relationships. In particular, I work with parents and children together to increase their moments of shared joy by enhancing their shared play and helping them find meaning in their relationships even when there has been stress and tension in those relationships. I love to work with parents who have adopted children, who homeschool their children, who are religious and want to raise their children in their faith tradition, or who are wrestling with balancing careers and being present with their children. I am particularly passionate about helping fathers find meaning in their roles as fathers and helping them connect more with their children through shared joyful play.

Parent Counseling and Play Therapy

I offer counseling and play therapy to parents to focus on improving their own mental health so that they can then show up more fully in their role as mother or father. I focus on helping parents find meaning and a playful spirit in their roles as parents and in other aspects of their lives. I also support parents in facing anxiety, overwhelming stress, perfectionism, high sensitivity, and other concerns that arise or are intertwined with parenthood. I love to work with parents who have embraced the calling and responsibility of parenting and want to do it well.

Parent Consultation

Sometimes parents just need to talk through concerns they have for their children. I offer parent consultation services to support parents with helping their children through a myriad of challenges. While these sessions are typically just with parents, the focus is on the child, and how the parent can support their child. These sessions are different from counseling for parents, parent-child counseling, or check-in appointments for individual child sessions. I have extensive experience in parent consultation for a variety of developmental concerns, especially for children 0-8.

Helping Professional Counseling and Play Therapy

I offer counseling and play therapy to helping professionals (teachers, nurses, doctors, other mental health professionals, etc.) who work with children. These sessions focus on improving the helping professional’s mental health so that they can then show up more fully in their role as an important adult in the lives of children. I focus on helping the helpers find meaning and a playful spirit in their roles as helpers. I also support them in facing anxiety, overwhelming stress, perfectionism, high sensitivity, and other concerns that arise or are intertwined with their important role as a helper to children. I love to work with helpers who have embraced their role as an important adult in the lives of children and see it as a mission, and thus, want to do it well.

Helping Professional Consultation

Sometimes helping professionals (teachers, nurses, doctors, other mental health professionals, etc.) who work with children, have questions or need to talk with someone about how to best support a child in their care. I offer consultation services to support such helpers so that they can offer the best possible services to the children with which they work. These sessions are different from counseling for helping professionals and often involve specific cases. I have extensive experience in such consultation for a variety of developmental concerns, especially for children 0-8.

Therapeutic Play/Game Facilitation

Sometimes it is less about figuring out what you need to do, and more about having the time, space, and support to do it. Parents and other important adults in the lives of children often know they need to play more with their children, and they even want to, but the questions of when, where, and how often get in the way. I offer therapeutic play/game facilitation to remove the when, where, and how obstacles. These sessions differ from play therapy or counseling sessions in that the play is the central focus. The “what” of these sessions can vary based on your needs and desires, but common facilitated play activities include family rough housing, imaginative play (like playing house),  simple rhythmic play,  board games, tabletop roleplaying games, and even family story or reading time.
